Summer 2010 SBI classes
This summer we will be offering several classes in our Summer Bible Institute (SBI). We are offering a wide range of classes so there is probably one that will interest you. Please see the description for each below. Afterwards, please stay with us for fellowship and light refreshments.
Survival Kit 1 – has been an effective resource for Christians, helping them understand and deal with conflicts between old and new patterns of thoughts and habits. It also helps new Christians develop a regular pattern of devotion time, prayer, Bible study, and Scripture memorization. You will learn five basic values required to become established as a minister! You will also learn to apply biblical teachings and values to every area of your life!
Fresh Encounter – This six-week study examines God’s pattern for revival and spiritual awakening from a biblical and historical perspective. As the world becomes more desperate to heal a culture steeped in sin, Christians need to turn ever more sincerely to the Scriptures and to God in prayer. Out of that humility and brokenness comes a fresh encounter with God and teaches how prayer, humility, and a heartfelt desire to know and do His will can work wondrous changes in your life.
The Reason For God: Belief in an age of skepticism – Tim Keller uses literature, philosophy, real-life conversations, and reasoning to explain how faith in Christ is a soundly rational belief.
How to Share Your Faith - Do you know how to make the good news relevant? Do you know how to communicate to people to whom the gospel seems alien? Do you know how to talk about Jesus Christ with people from all walks of life?
New Testament Survey – This SBI class is based on the NT section of the 90 day bible reading we did as a church last year. We will have 6 weeks to read through the NT (double the time as last year when we read the NT in 3 weeks during the 90 day plan), watch the videos of the 90 day bible reading, and discuss the amazing life of Christ and the beginnings of the church.
Drama Ministry – This SBI class will be an opportunity to plan, prepare, and perform short skits/dramas for the church. This, like many of our SBI classes will be a very hands-on type of class where everyone will get involved. Whether the drama/skit is for a church worship service or for an evangelism/invitation event like our Student Welcome Nights on-campus, this will be an exciting opportunity to take part. The goal is to prepare at least two such dramas/skits during this class. Remember that you don’t have to be involved in college ministry to take part in this class.
Please contact us if you are interested in taking any of these classes. They are taking place on Fridays at 7:30pm from July 9th through August 13th.
